Perth Panel: Tax leaders’ perspective on the next two years – a crystal ball discussion

The IFA Australia Branch together with The Corporate Tax Association is pleased to invite you to the following hybrid event

Join us for a panel discussion on the current tax landscape in Australia, and the key developments in the pipeline for tax leaders over the next two years. The discussion will share insights about expectations for changes in the law and its administration, and how tax leaders are working to prepare their organisations to face a new range of domestic and international tax measures.

This hybrid event is free for members of IFA Australia and members of the CTA only.  Corporate IFA members can include four attendees free of charge, and additional attendees may participate for free if they are individual IFA members.

Panel


Michael Fenner, Head of Tax, Chevron

Michael has spent the last 18 years as the Head of Tax for Chevron in Australia and before that he held senior tax positions in several other oil and gas companies and several of the Big 4 accounting firms. In his current role he runs a team of 14 tax professionals and is responsible for all tax matters related to Chevron’s operations in Australia.

Michael is a former President of the Corporate Tax Association and is also an active member of the APPEA Fiscal Committee and American Chamber of Commerce Tax Committee. He was a member of the former Board of Tax Advisory Panel and was part of the expert panel appointed to assist the Board with their review on the implementation of the OECD Hybrid Mismatch rules. Michael has had extensive exposure to the development of tax policy and new tax laws as well as the many different facets of ATO engagement.

 


Glen Gaspar, Country Tax Lead, Australia and New Zealand, Shell

Glen joined Shell Australia in 2012 and in 2019 was appointed Country Tax Lead for Australia and New Zealand. Glen’s career in tax spans over 25 years with exposure to a broad range of industries including finance, property, mining, and energy.

He is an enthusiastic and driven leader who thrives from enabling his team, based in Brisbane, Chennai & Perth, to flourish in a dynamic energy sector.

 


Janelle Keatley, Senior Tax Manager, South32

Janelle is the Senior Tax Manager for Australia at South32. She leads the Australian tax function and manages Global Group tax reporting (including tax transparency). Prior to joining South32, Janelle was a Director at KPMG Perth where she specialised in providing corporate tax advice to multinationals and Australian listed and private groups. Her experience extends to tax structuring, acquisitions and divestments, cross-border issues and mining royalties.

Janelle has extensive experience in engaging with the Australian Tax Office on risk reviews, disputes and managing relationships within the ATO’s justified trust framework. Janelle is a member of the Minerals Council of Australia Tax Committee.

 


Niv Tadmore, Partner, Jones Day (Chair)

Niv Tadmore is a partner at Jones Day and leads the Australian tax practice of the firm. The key focus of the practice is the resolution of tax disputes, mainly acting for multinationals in respect of international tax and transfer pricing matters.

Niv is President of the IFA Australian Branch and was the founding chair of the global IFA Supervisory Board. He is also a member of the Melbourne University Tax Advisory Board and the New York University International Tax Program Practice Council.
