Jock McCormack (Partner, DLA Piper Australia) Jock is a leading Sydney-based international tax partner and head of the tax group of DLA Piper Australia. He is a Chairman of the Infrastructure Partnerships Australia Tax Committee, member of Property Council of Australia Tax Committee and is on the Executive Committee (Treasurer) of International Fiscal Association, Australian Branch.

Speaker: Maryanne Mrakovcic

Maryanne Mrakovcic (Deputy Secretary, Revenue Group, Treasury) In this position, Maryanne provides advice to the Australian Government on revenue and taxation policy matters. The work of the Group includes the provision of revenue forecasts and costings of taxation policies, analysis of the economic and social effects of taxation policy proposals, undertaking consultations and advising on taxation policy options, instructing parliamentary counsel on the design of taxation laws and supporting the passage of taxation legislation through Parliament. Revenue Group, through its Law Division, is also responsible for managing Treasury’s large and diverse legislation program, and the preparation of all Treasury portfolio laws. The Group also contributes to public understanding of revenue matters through contributions to budget and other government publications. Maryanne has also represented Australia at the OECD Inclusive Framework since 2016 and became a member of the Steering Group of the Inclusive Framework in January 2020. The Inclusive Framework has been developing reforms to the international taxation system including mostly notably taxation of the digital economy. In January 2021 Maryanne also became a Vice Chair of the OECD’s Committee of Fiscal Affairs Bureau.

Raphael Bera (Tax Partner, DLA Piper, France) Raphaël Béra has extensive experience in the tax structuring of: alternative investment funds (private equity, real estate and infrastructure funds) in multiple jurisdictions, including the structuring of carried interest and co-investment mechanisms; mergers and acquisitions (private M&A deals including LBOs, capital markets transactions); and real estate transactions (including acquisitions of French real property by institutional investors and non-resident high net worth individuals). Raphaël has also been involved in general reorganisation work for corporate groups, including corporate tax and VAT issues. Raphaël also represents taxpayers in tax disputes.

Speaker: Carlos Rodriquez

Carlos Rodriquez (Tax Partner, DLA Piper, Spain) Carlos Rodríguez is currently the head partner for the Tax Department of DLA Piper’s Madrid office. He has over 25 years’ experience in the provision of tax advice in M&A transactions, project finance and corporate restructuring. He is highly recognised for his involvement in international tax planning matters, both for foreign investments in Spain and Spanish investments abroad and has wide experience in the Life Science and Food and Beverage sectors. Carlos advises Private Equity funds on the structuring of their investments and also implementing carried interest arrangements. He lectures at the IE Business School on Private Equity Taxation, at University Carlos III on Taxation of Digital Economy and at ESADE Business School on Transfer Pricing.
