Pop-up event on the Oracle decision followed by End of Year get-together in Sydney!

December 3 @ 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM

Hybrid event

The event will commence with a 45 minute technical session on the recent Federal Court decision in Oracle Corporation Australia Pty Ltd v Commissioner of Taxation [2024] FCA 1262.  Oracle has commenced Federal Court proceedings challenging the Commissioner’s application of royalty withholding tax to software distribution payments.  The decision is a refusal of Oracle’s application to stay those proceedings while Oracle, Australia and Ireland pursued the Mutual Agreement Procedure and Arbitration under the Australia-Ireland tax treaty, and raises important questions of how domestic litigation relates to international tax treaty procedures.

This will then be followed by drinks, canapes, networking and catching up with our IFA community.
